We can not agree with you unfortunately. This is the best plugin which is compatible with lot's of different plugins. We do not have any alternatives unfortunately but if you want, you can install this plugin for a while, do what is necessary and then remove it.

This plugin is still 2 years old and not been updated, is there any replacement as it is marked abandoned by security plugins and our security manager.

We do not have other plugin as a alternative and we still use it.

It's working fine, do not be worry about the warnings.

You can do a backup of website before doing that.
