Wordpress layout before launch

Hello

Is it possible to completely change a layout and design before you publish it? I have a site up and running and I want to change everything but want to make the changes before I publish it. This way I can make all the changes and make sure everything is working without tearing down my active site.

This is in Wordress.

instead of Publishing you can Save Draft.

But if i change any of the Template settings it will change on my site.
