I can't work out where it is in the admin and how to get ride of it. can anyone help?

you got it probably because of the Google Analytic's code or extra plugins.

i haven't added the analytics code. any idea where i should search to get rid of it

If you didn't then one of your plugins must be the culprit because we are 10000% sure it's unrelated to theme.
