They is also no specific page for this to change the menu/colors?

I changed the theme style and this seems to of removed the bar telling how many results were found. but originally it was dark and light grey and they were the ones I wanted changing.

Ok. So we see that you mean subheader section and to change it's color, you need to use the following css:

#Subheader { background: #000 !important; }
#Subheader .title { color: #FFF !important; }
