Plugins need update after theme update
Hi there.
First of all, thanks for a great theme!
I've just started with Wordpress and I'd have tons of questions, anyway, my main concern for now is that after updating the theme, my plugins dashboard page says the following:
- LayerSlider WP shows a red "X" and then it says "You need to authorize
this site in order to get upgrades or support for this plugin. Purchase
a license or enter an existing purchase code"
- Slider Revolutions shows the update icon and it says "Activate Slider
Revolution for Premium Benefits (e.g. Live Updates)"
Both plugins are active and updated.
Days ago I did a bit of everything (via FTP), from reuploading the
zipped theme, to deleting its folder and reuploading it from scratch. I then
deleted the 3 plugins that gave me problems (the third one being Visual
Composer, but that was eventually fixed along the road), and reuploaded them...
At one point I even had 2 LayerSlider plugins: one "LayerSlider" and the
other one "layerslider" (without capitals), as the zipped plugin
folder's name.
Yesterday I went through the first theme update by Envato Market (after
generating my OAuth token), it was super fast compared to an FTP update,
but it didn't fix things, as I hoped.
I've been reading on many webpages that I need to "ask the theme creators for the new version of the plugin". Is it such a case?
Are these messages indicating some sort of problem, or are they "normal"?
Thanks.

purchase codes (license keys) are not included for plugins which are bundled into theme. It’s because of Themeforest license & agreements. This applies to all themes of course. However, there is no need to use this code because the plugins are fully functional without it. If you want, you can read more details about this on Envato forum:
http://themeforest.net/forums/thread/dont-work-my-purchase-code-stardust-w-revolution-slider/186285
Of course recent versions of plugins are always included into theme package and you can find them any time you want under plugins/ folder.
Thanks
In fact I thought (and hoped) that the most recent version of the bundled plugins HAD to be packaged into the theme itself.
I'm happy to read your confirmation that it is indeed the case ;-)
I take those "false alarm" notification messages from the plugins as some sort of ADs from their creators. I'll have to live with them I guess.
What I still don't get 100% is how to update themes.
Since there also is a plugins folder inside the "betheme.zip", I suppose that when I upload/update the new theme, I'm also updating the plugins.
But THEN I notice the "public-html\wp-content\plugins" folder (sorry for any typo, I'm not on ftp) and I'm at a loss. Should I update that folder, or the one inside the theme folder?
When I wrote
"What I still don't get 100% is how to update themes", I actually meant:
"What I still don't get 100% is how to update plugins".
Anyway, at this link
https://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_Plugins#Manual_Plugin_Installation
they say to put plugins in "/public_html/wp-content/plugins" folder, so I'll deactivate the 3 plugins (visualcomposer, layerslider and sliderrevolution), rename their folders on the server, and reupload them via FTP.
I'll see what happens.
