A question about colour settings
If I have 'one colour skin' or a pre-defined skin selected, can I not over-ride the colours using the colour options panel? EG, I want the top bar to be a very light white. If I select that in colours ---> header though, it has no effect. I love the idea of the one colour skin feature, but if colours can't be over-ridden by the admin panel, that's kind of a pain and I don't know why it even shows the options. Do I have to configure my colours entirely using the custom option?

no, you can't. If you want to use custom colors, you must have Custom skin selected. But if you want to use pre-defined skins, you need to modify colors with custom css.
