Any way to change layout and sidebars for group of posts or pages?

We are implementing the Be Theme for an existing website with hundreds of pages. There are groups of pages/posts in which each page or post should have the same layout and the same sidebar. For example, we might have a group of 50 posts that all are related to one topic, so all of them should have the same sidebar on the right. 

We can edit the pages /posts one by one, but there are *lots* of them so it will take a *long* time. Is there any way to select a group of them and apply the same layout (with a sidebar) and same sidebar to all of them at once? For example, is there any way to select all of the posts in one category and apply same layout and sidebar to them?

We are comfortable with phpMyAdmin if there's a way to do it in the database.
