Background image not responsive on ipad

My background image is working fine in responsive mode on desktop, including when resizing the browser.

It works fine on iphone, however when viewing the home page on ipad it isn't responsive.

I've tried to search the forums, and can't find anything except for this - http://forum.muffingroup.com/betheme/discussion/10435/section-background-center-no-repeat-fixed-cover-ipad-visual-bug

So it's not possible to have a responsive background on ipad? I have also tried to disable the background image on mobile devices, under Theme Options -> Responsive -> Background Image. But when I visit the website on a mobile device it still displays the background image

How can I either

a) Fix the background image so it's responsive on an ipad/tablet

2) Display an alternative background image on an ipad/tablet

Hi,

If it's css background, then it won't be responsive because css backgrounds are not responsive and won't be until mobile devices will start supporting css backgrounds.
