It changes the layout of the items to be exactly what we need.

However, when I activate the plugin, the layout isn't quite right.

In going with the plugin's layout, this plugin should display the "featured image", then some text, then a 'read more' button.

How can we make this happen?

Unfortunately we do not support this plugin and we are not able to help in this case. We can consider compatibility with this plugin while future updates but at this moment we have tons of other requests and we need to make the first.
