Reset Demo Import Content to Default

Hi - I've searched for a solution to my problem to no avail.  I was updating my site on the train and experienced some problematic wifi.  I received a page not found error whenever I went to publish the website and then whenever I returned to my homepage the content was blank !!!

I understand that the "Revisions" feature to restore to a previous version is not possible? Can you confirm if this is the case? If not, is there anyway I can restore my content - note: it is only the homepage that is affected. (The website can be viewed here: www.j3upr.com)

Alternatively, is there anyway that I can copy the content from the demo import that I used.  The demo I am using is "bedesign2" - I would like this reset to the default content if possible, rather than recreate it manually.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Jamie

  • Hi Jamie,

there is way to restore the content of course. Any average hosting has something called "backup" and in such case, you should contact with your admin/hosting provider and ask to backup your site from the time when everything was ok.
  • I'm not sure if you meant to be patronising in that response but I'm afraid that's the way it has come across.  Let's start again... I do not have access to backups given that I have been working on this within the last day. Is there an easy way for me to be able to import the default content back into the homepage so that the demo install content is shown again without doing a manual delete and re-install?

    Thanks, Jamie
  • All we meant is that each average hosting should have backups and this is totally crazy if you don't have backups. We are always saying that people are divided into: those who do backups and those who will do the backups. It's just saying but its very real.

Anyway, we do not have anything like built-in backups because database itself is not as safe as backups file and everything may happen with database as it's only WordPress. Of course, you can do the import of pre-built demo once again but we can not guarantee it would work the way you want it because all current settings and options would be overwritten with such import.

Hope this makes sense and you understand what we are trying to say.

    Thanks for understanding! :)
