Widget Area for Header?

Is there a way to add a widget area into the header?

I am using the transparent header option and would like to place the widget, level with the logo but on the right hand side of the header.

I considered trying the Magazine header and tweaking it, but battled to get the background image to show through.

The only way to put widgets in header, is this small arrow which is in right top corner. When you click on it, it shows section where you can use widgets. Widgets for this section cab be setup of course in Appearance > Widgets section.
