shortcodes - pictures / visuals

I'm trying to create a simple section. with a full width background picture and heading and link to another page (Not portfolio page). Basically I'm trying to create the same as this demo but i don't want portfolio http://themes.muffingroup.com/be/tuning/realizations/

however I'm struggling to find the shortcode to use. iv spent hours testing each shortcode. 

Also if i want to create a section how do ensure it remains the same size e.g whats the padding top and bottom?

1. Also I need to know why portfolio has been used as opposed to a normal page or post.

Although some of the features are nice it's more like a blog post. Im also worried about the seo impact of using portfolio page compared to a normal page. e.g on the inner page linking from here.http://themes.muffingroup.com/be/tuning/portfolio-item/aliquam-eratac/ 

2. Also I can't find a decent Feature box or, button or feature that compare to the original white box and links this page. As explained above I'm changing the inner pages to a normal page as opposed to portfolio.

3. Can I use the portfolio feature as a blog? Rename portfolio to blog? How to do ?

Sorry but this is not doable. Portfolio cannot be a blog, and the blog cannot be the portfolio.

I read in your forum its possible to use VC add ons in muffin builder - how to do? have any instructions?
