Image Gallery help needed

I'm setting up a portfolio and portfolio items.  Here is my web site:  http://haberlandson.wpengine.com/?portfolio=stewartsville-hosue

I've tried many of the Add Items to add images.  I've eventually settled with Add Item called Image.  The problem I'm having is I'd like to have the ability to go from one image to the next without closing the image.  The Add Item called Image does not let me do that.  In other words, when I click on an image and it opens in the light box, I'd like to be able to push the left or right arrow on my keyboard to scroll through all the images.  I'd also like to change the gallery style to ones I see on the demo theme.  Is there a way to do this within the theme?

Thanks very much
Mark

  • Hi Mark,

this is possible only with "Gallery" item what you can see at http://themes.muffingroup.com/betheme/pages/gallery, and it won't work with any other item. All information about wordpress gallery you can read at http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/
  • You realize that the Wordpress support site you sent me to is only good for Wordpress.com.  If you download Wordpress at Wordpress.org to install on another server like most of have done, the options in the gallery settings for Wordpress.com are not available in Wordpress.org.  For instance, you don't have TYPE where you can specify the type of gallery here. The options are a default gallery of thumbnail images, a gallery with rectangular tiles, a gallery with square tiles, a gallery with circular tiles, or a slideshow.  None of these options are available for Wordpress.org software.

Are you saying there is no other way to create a gallery within the theme other than using the Wordpress gallery?

    Thanks
    Mark
  • We know that but this is how basically it works. There is only difference between layouts that can be used on wordpress.org because there, JetPack plugin is installed as default. And as we wrote above, only "Gallery" have the option you need.
