Auto resize of background pictures

Hi,

please apologize my newbie question.
I reviewed some youtube videos and started with my first website. When it comes to responsove visibility I am lost.
I started with a blank page and added a section and a wrapper. The background of the wrapper is a png file with 2000 x 1080px as recommended.
I added a few more fancy buttons etc.. I do have an iMac and due to the resolution all looked perfecr, but when I decreases the size of the browser I noticed that Picture, Button, etc decreased only just a bit and then all messed up at the end. 

How can I make pictures really responsive?
