Image links icons

I'd like to change image links icons, that show up when I hover portfolio item (icon-search and icon-link), and add some custom text to it. I've found and changed line 2453 and 2454 in theme-shortcodes.php, but it doesn't seem to work. Am I missing something?

yes this is the file, you must be doing something wrong, try to echo out any text.

This is the original 2454 line:

if( $link ) $output .= '<a href="'. $link .'" class="link" '. $target .'><i class="icon-link"></i></a>';

I've changed icon-link to any other icon and I added some text within <a></a> and it doesn't work. On my portfolio item it's still showing icon-link without any text.

What you ask for, requires files customization what in reference to Item Support Policy is not allowed. So if you want to modify files and don't know how, you should contact with your web developer. Item Policy clearly says:
