Moving from test environment to production and changing the URL

Hello,

I just tried moving our new BeTheme based website from our test sub domain to our production domain and it went horribly wrong. The whole layout of the site was gone and so were a lot of the things I configured. I made a backup before I began so fortunately the old situation is restored now.

Is there any documentation / procedure on how I should proceed with this?

The new site is http://test.campingdegroenevalk.nl (username: "nieuw" password: "nieuw") and I want to move it to the primary domain http://www.campingdegroenevalk.nl

Thank you for the help.

Kind regards,

Hans Vos

  • I tried it a second time and still no luck.

First I deregistered the theme and then I changed the URL of the site in WordPress settings and then moved the files on the FTP server to the root directory.

After that I also tried manually changing any records in the database containing "test.campingdegroenevalk.nl" to "www.campingdegroenevalk.nl" during that process the look of the website defaulted to some BeTheme look. For example the site was now configured as full width while I have boxed layout.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I assume this must be a common issue?
