Updating from Way Outdated BeTheme version

I recently took over managing a site that is using BeTheme. The theme has not been updated since V6.6! They don't have the credentials they used to purchase the theme originally so I just purchased BeTheme again on Themeforest. I was hoping you could provide a little advice/support on how smooth a theme update will be at this point. The former designer did not use a child theme, so I would like to update to v20+ and get onto the child theme. They made general theme customizations in the options and have some custom CSS within the theme options as well. They are also using Woocommerce, for what that is worth. I did not design this site initially so I am hoping there is a smooth way to make these updates so the site can fully function again. 

Is there anything I need to know/do to prepare beyond copying the Custom CSS and exporting the theme options?

Hi,

please make sure that you first make a backup, we suggest using the duplicator plugin:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/

If the theme is so old then there could be some visual changes. We suggest first moving this website to localhost and there try to update first. If the website turns out to be ok then just duplicate it to the main server where you can register the theme.
