change the opacity of background image

I used custom CSS classes to change the opacity of the background image but it didn't work. I wonder how I can do that.

Can i change Background image of the Blog Page? and also for Single Posts? If not is there another way to have a background image in blog?

Only with custom css, the background for pages can be set in theme options>global>general but only globally.

Other question. Is there any way to make the conton only on one page transparent? 
I know there is one possibility to make the whole content transparent but i ony want to have it on one page (Blog)
