Custom Image for Social Icons?

Hello - 

I was wondering if I can use custom images/buttons that i created for the social icons that appear at the bottom of every page? Please see attached screenshot so that you know what social buttons I am referring to.

Is it possible to create my own "buttons" with my own images and have them link to my social media sites?

If you are good in coding, and you know how to modify files then everything is possible but please remember after that you won't be able to do theme updates.
