cannot upload plugins

I am an absolute beginner, and just starting with wordpress
 I managed to get XAMPP on my Mac an downloaded Wordpress (NL-version). It worked but since it is more complicated then I thought, I bought Bethemes hoping thing would be simpeler using all the just plugins and stuff.
However, I can upload the betheme folder (file or whatever it is called), but the second step to install the plugins does not work. I get a fault message that wordpress does not have access to the server. I tried start all over again, loaded an newer version of XAMPP 7. something, but nothing works. I AM STUCK !!! Ever since I uploaded Bethemes i can acces wordpress under xampp but I cannot change anything. PLEASE HELP
