we need to adjust the distance from the parent menu to the submenu-dropdown. is this possible within the default theme? what kind of css changes need to be made?

I have the same question. The sub-menu items drop down beneath the height of the logo, creating a lot of space between the main menu item and it's sub menus. I tried some different menu options, but I like this layout, just without all the space.

@bike2n To move the sub-menu items up, you need to use the following css:

#Top_bar .menu li ul { top: 70% !important; }
