cannot unregister the them before migration

Hi,

I want to duplicate my website in order to test that the update of WP, Betheme and all plugins goes smoothly. 

Therefore, I unregistered my theme on the original website (production), made a copy on a subdomain and then try to register the theme on the subdomain so I can test the theme update. But at that moment, I receive a message that says : "Purchase code already used. Please deregister purchase code and remove theme folder on: www.myoriginalwebsite.com"

Additional remark : obviously I need to keep the theme folder of my production website and cannot remove it during my test.

Hi,

it requests me to delete the Theme file on my server but I cannot do that. 

As explained: 

- I have a production website on www.example.com which has to keep running

- I made a copy of the website on example.myagency.com in order to test the updates of WP/Theme/plugins and troubleshot any issue there (and not on my production website)

So I need to keep my theme files on production website while registering the theme for the website copy in order to test the updates.

Sorry but if you have an installed version of the theme on your server and it is not registered or you want to register the key second time it will be not possible and it is a violation of the license.

For developers we created a way of using the same key in multiple dev projects. Just install the theme on the main domain and create subdomain that can be registered with the same key.

ok, so if the website url is www.example.com, I just need to install a copy of the site on for e.g. the subdomain "test.example.com" and I will be able to register with the same key. Am I understanding correctly?

Yes, this also applies to localhost installations.
