Change hambuger dropdown characters to arrows

I have a client who would like me to change the default + and - characters for menu items that have submenus. She would like me to change them to the Black Up-Pointing Triangle and Black Down-Pointing Triangle unicode characters. I've found a few places where those menus are referenced, but it looks like those characters are set in inline css.  

Can you show me where to change these for the menu system, particularly the hamburger menu?

You cannot change it in theme options. To do this you will have to use this custom CSS
