How to create gallery as "Masonry Flat" without portfolio

Can I use simply images via [gallery] and show it as 'masonry flat' style.

So this one is not possible. This layout is reserved for portfolio items only.

Unfortunately it uses 'portfolio-item' term in permalink... which is not SEO friendly.

This permalink slug can be changed under Theme options > Getting started > Portfolio section but if this is also not enough for you, then we can't do anything else in this case.
