Social Media Links in Header

Hello, I would like to display my social media links in the header, but they are not showing up. They show up fine in the footer, though. I followed all the directions in the documentation, so I'm not sure what I'm missing.

did you activated action bar under Theme options > Layout > Menu & Action Bar section?
