Set Featured Image(s) as Gallery

I want a gallery view, just like described here (check Step 4 and 5):

But I can only select ONE featured image in WordPress - can you explain that step (gallery view for portfolio) again?

So its not possible to create a gallery view for a portfolio (only category gallery?)?

Unfortunately, it's not possible.
But I suggest you, to create this gallery as the item below the single portfolio item.
