Solid background to main menu items

Can you please tell me how to set a solid background behind the main menu items, so they stand out better against a photo background?

I can do it for when a menu item is highlighted, but not otherwise. I.e. I would like the menu background to change from one solid colour to another when highlighted.

Hi,

First of all, your "Top Bar with Menu" cannot be transparent, so please go to the Theme Options > Global > General, scroll down to the "Background" section and be sure that transparent option is ticked off in that option.

Secondly, go to the Theme Options > Colors > Header and change the color of the background of Top Bar Left, that will change the menu background only.

Also, be sure that your Header is not "Minimalist without Header Space" in Theme Options > Header & Subheader > Header

Even if I make top bar with menu non-transparent and leave Header transparent, it still hides my header photo completely. 

Maybe you could take a look at that when you log in as well??

Ideally I don't want a solid bar across the entire menu, as this would obscure part of the header background image.

What I would like is the same sort of highlighting as for highlighted menu items, but a different colour.

In this type of menu it was possible only with the Custom CSS.

I provided the code in the Theme Options > Custom CSS & JS > CSS
