I finally found a layout that I think is almost perfect for me. Some questions:

1. Can the color of the "read more" button change?

2. Can the "read more" button be smaller?

3. Can the entire area below image for Title etc be smaller?

4. Why is there a delay in load time? It seems to be longer than normal.

1,2. Yes, this can be done. But where you want to change this button? On blog page? Or maybe on homepage where you use external plugin for blog items because as we see this item does not belong to us.

3. If you mean subheader, then currently it is very small because got the same height as breadcrumbs.

4. Probably it's because of your extra plugins.

What you mean? VC is external plugin which is only included into theme. What you exactly ask for?

I have figured most everything out, but my question now is the delay in images loading on portfolio pages. Can you suggest anything for that?

You can do this with below css:
