one page without menu

i'm adding a landing page to the website.  i'd like to have it clean, and without a visible menu.  i tried to change it using theme options, and also crearting and saving a different empty menu, but i can't get rid of it.  if i change things in options, it changes in all the rest of the web site.  and even if i make a different menu, even with no links in it, it just doesn't go away.  any suggestion?
