HTTP to HTTPS redirect issue

Hi there.

For some reason when the site went live it refused to show as https.

This was despite it set to show https in the hosting control panel, and this then synched through to the Wordpress settings viewed in the Wordpress general settings in the backend of the site. I even updated the Wordpress database in the options table to update the URL to https and still the theme decided to ignore all of this and keep the site on http.

In the end we had to edit the htaccess file to force a re-write! Why is this happening with the theme and is there is something different that needs to be done?

Alex.

  • Hello Alex,
HTTP/HTTPS does not have in common with the theme.
It must be a htaccess misconfiguration or not proper configuration in the hosting services.
Also, the SSL (https) is must-have nowadays, because almost all of the browsers will not pass you to website with http connection, because it's not a secure connection.

We suggest, to migrate your website to HTTPS.
If you have some links still on http, we suggest to use this plugin to migrate them to https.

    Thanks
