Is it possible to

1. Remove the grey border around the placeholder of the images.

2. Center images within the placeholder

3. Have the placeholder be snug around the images? - it looks weird when the hover effect produces another colored rectangle that goes past the image area to the right.

1. Yes, it is possible. You can do this within below css:

.photo .post-photo-wrapper { border: 0 !important; }

2. This can be done with below css:

.image_frame .image_wrapper, .wp-caption img, .icon_box .icon_wrapper::before { text-align: center !important; }

3. This is unfortunately not possible.

If you check the same link again now, you can see that most of the wrapper is gone, but there is still a fine line left - can we eliminate that also?

This is box shadow and you can remove it within below css:

.image_frame .image_wrapper .mask { box-shadow: 0; }

Shadow is still there because the css we gave you, does not look the same. Please check your css and make sure that is the same as we gave you above. You missed some punctuation marks.

I copied and pasted it again exactly as given. The fine line is still there... However, now I found a way to get rid of the all hover-features. I think for now that serves my purposes best.
