read more tag has no effect

I'm trying to add the read more tag to a page.

Adding the tag has no effect. What am I missing?

What do you mean by "Read more" tag?

Can you explain it in more details? Which item do you want to use?

I use this post because i have the same problem. I'm using the Lawyer2 theme. In the home page, when i try to change the descrption of one column there is'nt a lot of option. I can't write a bulletted list and i can't use the "read more" option. Usually there is a button or an option to insert the "read more" button but ther is'nt I also tried with the tag of wordpress:    <!--more--> 
Please, tell us how to solve this problem. for the list, the "read more" button and other features that usually are present in wordpress but there is not in betheme. especially in the prebuilt page. Thank you
