you can see the menu from the english language have one right hand side icon drop to the other row.

The icon of the english drop to the next line.
since it is a split menu, the wpml language switcher located in a wrong menu layer.
Menu Left: Main Menu | depth 5 (Overlay | depth 1)
Menu Right: Secondary Menu | depth 2 (Split | depth 5)
Not sure where wpml switcher default add to? how to solve, please.

You will not be able to change the width of the logo in the theme settings.

If you would like to make the gap "smaller", just decrease the amount of the grid width in the Theme Options > Global > General
