Header jumping around

edited July 2021 in Theme support

Hi,

Sometimes when a page loads the header does not load right, see attached screenshot.

View website here, and click through some pages. It will show correctly most of the time but sometimes there's a huge amount of space: http://brianw155.sg-host.com/

  • Hello,

It stays in this position or goes back to normal when the page is loaded?

I have tested it by switching through pages, and I could not achieve to have this issue.

On what browser are you testing?

    Best regards

  • Hi,

Yes it doesn't happen every time. You might need to click through the pages a good few times. Using Google Chrome.

  • Hello,

This issue might be caused by too many menu items inside the website's grid width. You can get rid of that problem by following the steps mentioned in one of the topics in our FAQ from the Support Center. Check the following link:

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Thanks for your reply. None of these suggestions are working. My header is already fullwidth. I tried increasing the grid width (not sure what effect this would have), but didn't work. And tried removing links, and decreasing menu font size. I found BeTheme through a website I like, and they don't have a fullwidth header, and a lot of links, but don't have this problem?

  • I have tried to reproduce this issue on different browsers, resolutions, and devices but without success. However, everything is working fine in my environment.

Only a couple of times, the action button goes under the navigation menu, but only for a fraction of seconds, and it goes back to normal.

Can you tell what OS, resolution, and screen scaling you are using, please?

    Thanks

  • Yes that's what I mean, the action button jumps down - it's as if the navigation menu width is automatically calculated, but it's not perfect when the page loads (sometimes) - I'm using the latest version of chrome with the browser set at 1920px wide. My OS is:

  • This temporary jumping is normal behavior because the header needs to calculate everything and put it in the correct place.

If you want, you can install a pre-loader that will display the content after it fully loads.

But I cannot recommend any plugins other than the ones we support. You can find the list on this page, in the sidebar:

    Thanks
