Reduce initial server response time?

Can someone please help me, my website is super slow to load.

7.86 s I'm being told are contributed to Betheme.

I'm new to building a site and don't know why this is happening.

I've optimized my images. halted my auto slider on my home page. checked with the hosting provider.

what could be the cause.
