I just updated my theme and it caused this gap on my home page. Any ideas?

Please, edit this page, open the option of this element, and in the Advanced tab, set the margin to zero.
After that, check, if this space still appears.

That fixed it but whenever i edit pages and try and view them in preview mode and it only shows the footer and header of the page and not the content.. ANy reason why?

Can you test it with all plugins disabled? Also, please clear the cache of your brower.
