Excerpt length in blog issues

Hi. I am trying to limit the excerpt length in a blog element.

I tried to limit the length via the Theme options / Blog & Portfolio / Blog / Excerpt length.... and nothing works.

• I first tried entering the excerpt into the 'excerpt' thing on the side panel - nothing
• I also left it empty (thinking it would load the content automatically - Doesn't work either... in fact now there is no excerpt at all.

There is also no option on the actual blog element to set the count either.

Any suggestions.
