Betheme is too big for my hosting package

I've been told that Betheme is bigger than my hosting package will support, and that I have to pay for a server package to support the theme. Does this sound accurate? We're a small organization and can't afford to pay that much more.

Betheme package weighs only 9,5MB, so I would not say it is too big for even smaller hostings.

Did you download the package from ThemeForest?
