1) Please, go to Betheme -> Theme options -> Header & Subheader -> Header, and set some Height there.
2) Can you tell me where did you set this background image, please?
3) There is a Subheader:
You can hide it in the Theme options for the whole website, or in the Page Options.

1) There is also a setting for that for mobile display. It can be found in Betheme -> Theme options -> Responsive -> Header.
2) If you disable the Subheader, this image will not appear, so you need to have the Subheader to be visible to show it.
Notice that this image is global for the whole website.
If you want to have it only on the product pages, or in a particular category, you can use the product templates
