No option to install plugins

Hi-

After many years dormant (was on 7.6) I just purchased and updated to BeTheme (26.7.2.1). I need to add Revolution Slider but when I go to the Wordpress / BeTheme menu, there is no option "Install plugins". My Wordpress says it's current at 6.1.1. How do I go about getting the updated Revolution Slider?

Thanks for your help,

Chuck

  • One more thought - do I need to remove the old Slider Revolution? I see there are other plugins on the plugin page that say "install". When I hit "Activate" on Revolution Slider it just spins and never activates. I figured that was the old one I was seeing. If I look in the plugins folder, it's from 2015, but on this page it's v6.6.9 which seems pretty close to current.

  • Hello,

The install Plugins tab changed to Plugins, but I can see that you found it.

If the activation does not work, please, change the existing Slider Revolution catalog name to anything else (you can add an underline in front of the name). After that, install this plugin, and if everything works correctly, you can remove the folder with an old version of the Slider Revolution.

  • That worked, thank you.

  • Hi-

I had gotten Revolution Slider working, and my many old sliders were back to normal. I went into the plugins section and had two copies of Revolution Slider listed (i had put the underscore for the old). So I hit "delete plugin" on the old one and now all of my sliders are gone. I tried copying my backed up folder named "_revslider" back into the plugin directory but that didn't solve it. How can I restore all my sliders? You can see the result on this sample page: https://batterycreative.com/sparks/

    Thanks,

  • Sent, thanks so much.

  • In the database, a couple of tables are missing those store sliders, and you need to ask your server administrator to restore them from a backup.

Also, there are no files for slides in the uploads catalog. Deactivation or reinstallation of the plugin does not affect that so some other plugin could cause that, or it was related to the server configuration.

  • Is there anything more specific I can point them to or ask them for (like which tables or anything more direct)?

The only thing that I can think of that I did was delete that second copy of the Revolution Slider plugin, and then all my old sliders and the one new one I had created all disappeared. I didn't delete any other plugins and I don't think I even had deactivated any others.

  • Sorry for all the questions, I definitely don't have a great understanding on the backend stuff. I do have some Softaculous backups that I had downloaded where I see my content uploads (some of which were used in sliders but not sure if it's the same place they were stored).

Figured I'd ask in case anything looks right in here or possible to restore, I know the core WP images are still on the site and I'm assuming that's what a lot what I'm looking at is. I don't know if any of the missing tables etc would be in this same type of backup. Some sample screenshots:

  • The easiest way will be to restore a backup of your whole website, create a copy with the duplicator plugin on a staging domain, update Slider Revolution on the main domain then, and export sliders from the staging domain manually.

  • It sounds easier to just start over and recreate the sliders. But now my problem is when I go into the Revolution Slider tab, it says it's unregistered and when I put my purchase code from what I just bought in it says it's invalid (and it used to work before this mess).

  • Nevermind - I was able to restore and get back on track. Thanks again for your help.

Also, I Googled and found someone else with the exact same problem - deleted an older version of the plugin and they lost all their sliders so that was definitely the cause. I appreciate how responsive you guys are with support.

  • Good to see that you manage to resolve that.

Always happy to help, so if you have any additional questions or problems, feel free to ask.

    Thanks
