Transitioning an Old Website to the "Be" Theme

edited July 2023 in BeBuilder

Hi, I'm transitioning an old website to your "Be" theme, but it's not working as I expected. My goal was to apply your theme and adjust some settings to rejuvenate the entire website. But instead I'm having to rebuild every single page. Very time consuming! It looks like I only have two options: 1. Leave pages as they were designed in Wordpress; or 2. Build them from scratch with BeBuilder. In my Page Options, when I click "Edit with BeBuilder," it opens up an editable page. But there's no click-and-drag option, and the BeBuilder doesn't seem to interact with the Wordpress content, except for copy and paste. So I'm having to copy and paste everything, plus format it all over again. Is there a faster, more efficient way to update my pages?

  • Hi,

The WP Editor and BeBuilder are two different builders and have different constructions.

There is no option to convert WP content into our builder than recreating them from scratch.

Of course, you can leave your pages as they are now, and they will work.

  • Ouch! Yeah, I am recreating my website from scratch. I see that as a major shortcoming of your theme. The pages "Work" as you say, but there's no elegance in the transition from a former theme to yours. That is disappointing to me. It seems like it would've been possible for this theme to provide options to convert ordinary paragraphs to your "column text" for example, and then position columns according to how they are designed, etc., from one theme to another. But there's no automation. Just a time-consuming re-skinning. Again, I'm having to rebuild my entire website, and that requires a slower and longer production process. With all due respect to the developers of this theme, "Speed" does not apply to the content management of an existing website.

  • As I mentioned before, these are two completely different builders, and their construction differs, and that is why such a transition is not possible unfortunately.
