Action bar & Header background

How do I set the background color of the action bar? And above all, can I set a transparency to show the slider underneath?

Also, how do I set the header color transparency? I can't keep a solid color because it looks terrible, I need transparency.

I set the header layout to "modern".

I couldn't find the options anywhere... help!
