I have been customizing a pre-built betheme site and was making good progress, but went back in to download an image I had accidentally deleted and lost everything (ugh)... so I am starting over from scratch. No worries, I know what I had done and can recreate everything fairly easily. However, I realized that I should know how to have a backup of my site and have no idea how to do that. Please help! Thank you!

We suggest using the Duplicator plugin for that.

There are many tutorials out there showing how to use this tool.
