I would like to add a shortcode for a contact form to a button. Is it possible? If not, how would you suggest to approach this thing?

do you mean to trigger shortcode in popup on button click?

Yes.
Then all you have to do is build popup with a shortcode inside. There is a couple of videos regarding popup builder on our YT channel.
