custom CSS code under the header

i put in some css code for certain links and layout for a page, however, it is showing up above the header, instead of below it. How do I fix this? I tried using the code box under muffin builder, but it does not understand css.

Each custom code should be pasted in Theme options > Custom CSS & JS > Custom CSS section.

nevermind, i put it in the text field by using <style></style>
