Breadcrumb path issue with multiple product categories in Cosmetic 3 template

Dear BeTheme Support Team,

I am currently using the Cosmetic 3 template within BeTheme on my WooCommerce site, and I have encountered an issue with the breadcrumb navigation when viewing product pages.

Issue Summary:

When a product is assigned to multiple categories, the breadcrumb path does not retain the category hierarchy from which the user navigated. For example, I have a product called Enzimatic Bio which belongs to the categories:

  • Limpieza y desinfección profesional > Enzimáticos
  • Market Horeca

The expected behavior is that when a user navigates to the product from the Limpieza y desinfección profesional > Enzimáticos category, the breadcrumb should display: Home > Soluciones Quimsa > Limpieza y desinfección profesional > Enzimáticos > [Product Name]

However, the breadcrumb path instead shows: Home > Market Horeca > [Product Name]

This happens even though the user did not enter through the "Market Horeca" category. The breadcrumb is automatically changing the path to reflect a different category, which is causing confusion for the users.

Could you please advise how I can ensure the breadcrumb path follows the category the user navigated from, or how I can enforce a specific breadcrumb structure when multiple categories are assigned to a product?

Any help or guidance on how to resolve this issue within the Cosmetic 3 template would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,

  • Hello,

There is no option to achieve that at the moment. File modifications would be required for that, but we do not provide help with such customizations, and you would have to contact your web developer regarding this.

If you would like to see such a feature in future updates, please let us know on the following topic:

  • Hello,

Thank you for the response. I would like to confirm if there is truly no way to have the breadcrumb path follow the user’s navigation flow. My goal is for the breadcrumb to maintain the category hierarchy the user came from, rather than defaulting to a specific category.

Also, could you clarify the criteria by which the template assigns the breadcrumb path when clicking on a product that belongs to multiple categories? In my case, it defaults to the "Market Horeca" category, even if the user navigated from "Limpieza y desinfección profesional > Enzimáticos."

I am open to considering customization, but I would appreciate understanding how the template currently decides the category path to prioritize, and if there are any suggested workarounds you might recommend for a temporary solution.

Thank you again for your assistance.

    Best regards,

  • The path the user navigates to a particular product is not recognized, so there is no option to achieve that at the moment.

The category that displays there is the one that is first in the database.

Unfortunately, there is no workaround for that I could suggest to you.

  • Ok, thanks for responding. Could you tell me how I can hide those breadcrumbs so they don't show up? That way, it won't create confusion. Thanks

  • Go to Betheme -> Theme options -> Header & Subheader -> Subheader, and check an option to hide the Subheader.

    Best regards
