If yes, then assign a background to each section on that page.

yes I mean that, so if in a page I have 5 sections I have to change the background color of each section?
Plus remove or adjust the padding or margin of the first section because otherwise it remains the global page color?
In the other themes you can choose the color page by page more automatically....
There is no setting to set different colors for each page.
You can either assign it to sections or write a custom CSS code.
Your first section does not seem to have any margins or paddings assigned. Anyway, you can do that through the Advanced tab of the section options:
