Show whole image in slider

Is there a way to show the entire image (more important for portrait images) in a slider.

Its fine for landscape images but my client wants to use some portrait ones also and it gets cut off

When I use a query loop I don't seem to have that same effect where you see half of the slides either side of the centre image though
