Website Broken After Updating to Betheme 28.0.1 – Critical Error & Vulnerabilities Detected

Hello Support Team,

I urgently need your assistance regarding a serious issue that occurred after updating Betheme to version 28.0.1.

After completing the theme update, my website immediately went into a critical error state, and now shows the following message on the front end:

"There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums."

To troubleshoot:

  • I have confirmed that all plugins are up to date.
  • I disabled all plugins and reactivated them one by one — no plugin conflict detected.
  • When switching to the default Twenty Twenty-Five theme, the website works fine.
  • As soon as I reactivate Betheme, the site crashes again with the critical error message.
  • In the WordPress Manager on cPanel, it flags Betheme with vulnerability warnings post-update.

The issue appears to be directly caused by the Betheme 28.0.1 update.

I’ve also checked the debug logs and found PHP memory exhaustion errors even though my server memory limit is already set to 512M, which is more than sufficient. This strongly suggests the issue is theme-related, possibly due to a memory leak or corrupted internal functions in this version.

Please advise immediately, as this is affecting my live website.

Let me know if you need admin access, logs, or FTP to investigate further.

Looking forward to your urgent support.

Thank you,

Murtaza Shah
