Update of js_composer fails via “Install plugins” panel, licence problem?

Hi,

I've read this:

https://support.muffingroup.com/documentation/bundled-plugins/

and tried to update WP Bakery/js_composer on both our dev and live sites.

After the failed update I just see VS shortcodes on the pages:

[vc_row full_width=” etc

I have renewed support at Envato for the dev site hoping that would fix it but the purchase code remains the same so the licence checker thinks the licence has expired. Do I have to buy a new licence rather than than renew the one I have? I'm guessing that would get you a new purchase code?

  • Hey,

Please send us the WordPress dashboard and FTP access privately through the contact form, which is on the right side at https://themeforest.net/user/muffingroup#contact. We will check what might be the reason.

  • Hi Phil,

many thanks for following up. We're not at liberty to do that because there is personal data on there including special category data. Happy to any debug you need.

    Thanks.

  • Unfortunately, without taking a look at the website, we are not able to tell anything.

    Best regards

  • If I submit details via the contact form is that sent to you over email?

  • Re looking at the website, my questions is about the licence rather than an installed bit of software. I've renewed the licence at Envato but this does not give you a new purchase code and it seems the purchase code is the only thing api.muffin cares about.

Rather than renew should I be buying a whole new licence which would then give me a new licence code?

    Thanks.

  • Yes, the contact form sends a message directly to our mailbox.

The Betheme license is lifetime, and you don't need to purchase another one for updates unless you want to create a new, separate domain. This also applies to bundled plugins. You must purchase the plugin license if you need access to premium features of bundled plugins or instant updates.

The support period refers only to access to the support team with your questions and problems.

    Best regards

  • Many thanks for your response on the licence question I'm confused because when I try to update WP Bakery via the BeTheme update page I get this message:

Invalid license code. Please make sure that your purchase code is used only on this domain. You can check it at: api.muffingroup.com/licenses

I then check the licence code and it shows expired for my Envato purchase code and against the correct domain. I have renewed at Envato but this does not give you a new purchase code so api.muffingroup.com/licenses continues to show expired and I continue to get the "Invalid code" pop-up when trying to update the plugin.

Re: sending FTP/admin details over email this is surely a no-no? Email is not a secure delivery medium and I would not want to transmit those details over email. Nobody puts their credit cards details in an email, why wouldd they put the leys to their site in an email? Apologies if I've misunderstood what you were saying.

  • Note that you can, or even should, create a temporary user for WP and FTP, which you can immediately remove after we check what is wrong with your website.

Unfortunately, without access and checking directly on your website, we are not able to help as only a description of the problem and screenshots of it do not tell us much in this situation.

    Best regards
